Tips and tricks

What is Pix Remix?

Pix Remix helps iPhone users combine pictures and text into a short show that can be shared between iPhones or over the web via email, Twitter, or Facebook. Learn more.

How does it work?

-Choose a few photos and a starter template. Select from traditional slideshow, animated collage, or our powerful Pan and Zoom templates.

-Use intuitive gestures to alter your show the way you want. Pinch, drag, and tap to create a collage, and shake to rearrange it. Swipe to create a path to follow to pan through a picture.

-Add some captions to set the stage.

-Share it the way you want, directly from the app, using Email, Facebook, or Twitter.

-Recipients can view the show on the web or in the app.

Why would I want to use it?

There’s no shortage of ways to upload a photo… or 300. There are also plenty of programs for manipulating a single image. And you can spend hours making the perfect movie or multimedia extravaganza out of your photos. What Pix Remix does is help you quickly curate your photos and turn them into a multi-faceted show – one that’s fun to create, and receive. By creating a more dynamic package, Pix Remix allows you to better tell a story and capture an experience with your photos. Learn more.

What's so cool about it?

It’s quick: As opposed to Photoshop or video editing programs, the iPhone allows you to create powerful shows fast and in the moment.

Use of gestures: With Pix Remix, you’re able to shake to rearrange a collage, or swipe to create a path to follow to pan through a picture. We think this beats using a mouse and toolbar.

What's a Pan and Zoom?

Pan and Zoom is a feature that allows users to define how Pix Remix should zoom into and pan across specific parts of a photo. This way, you can paint the scene and share comments about particular areas of a photo with others.

Why do you limit the number of photos in a show?

Two reasons. Both cartoon creators and storyboard artists agree that 3-10 photos is plenty to paint a scene, and that limiting that number forces you to make decisions about what parts of your story to prioritize. And, frankly, too often we find ourselves thinking, "Oh no, not another 50-shot photo album!"

How can I contact you guys?

Do you have tips on how to make great shows?

Add screen grabs from your iPhone or iPod Touch to your shows. Maps, shots of websites, and chat windows can add a lot to a story.

Snap photos of hand drawn sketches to add variety to your photo show or to make a comic.

In Pan & Zoom, you may want to add a final point that's zoomed all the way out to close out a photo's story.

Varying the zoom level of each point can add liveliness to a Pan & Zoom.

How can I get the most out of my iPhone and iPod Touch for Pix Remix?

Take a screen shot by clicking the power button and home button at the same time. It saves right to your Photo Library.

Tap and hold any photo in Safari to save it to your library.

Use iTunes to get photos off your computer by using the iPhone Photos tab while you're syncing. Don't forget to hit Apply or Sync in the bottom-right!
